We had a very exciting toy exchange with Livewires, New Zealand. Kiwi visited us and Cheburashka went to N.Zealand. My students learnt much.

Perhaps people who have come to New Zealand from other countries bring customs with them to protect their house from evil but we don't have any national customs like this.

In New Zealand we don't have Groundhog Day or anything similar. I first heard of Groundhog Day from the movie of that name! I'd never heard of it until then.

In Russia there was a tradition to have a doll or Domovoy (a doll of an old man with a beard) in the house to protect the family members from the evil, illness and so on. Now it becomes popular to buy and to give Chineese symbols for this purpose…
